Buddies

To raise awareness of the road freight task, ‘Trucker Buddy’ visits primary schools and a designated driver corresponds with a class group for one term.

Drivers send regular email or postcards as they travel their route, discussing travel conditions, load destinations and the logistics of transporting our everyday foods.

Students gain written communication skills, an awareness of geography, transport modes, routes and schedules.  “The students are so excited to receive and read a postcard. They immediately want to view destinations on our display map, or research crops and consumers. They link fresh food availability and quality to the storage and handling process.”
