T&L Workforce Gauge
—  Benchmarking and Measuring Your Workforce

Man with hand fork

Growth within the transport and logistics (T&L) industry means it is important to collect information about our people practices to assist businesses and the industry in attracting, recruiting and retaining a skilled workforce.

The main objective in the provision of the T&L Workforce Gauge is to establish a highly relevant, low cost and flexible workforce survey program with a high level of industry participation. Your participation will enable the industry to collect reliable data about the current and potential workforce issues in the transport and logistics industry — it demonstrates your commitment both to your workforce and the wider transport and logistics sector. Also, by taking this survey, you’ll help your State/Territory Transport and Logistics Workforce Advisory Group (TLWAG) tailor people-solutions that are responsive to the future workforce needs and industry trends.

Who is being surveyed?

To assist us in gathering this information, TLWAGs and industry bodies across the transport and logistics industry are approaching businesses to complete the T&L Workforce Gauge using a link to an online survey tool.

When will the survey be available?

The survey was piloted in Queensland In October 2010 with results available from the Queensland TLWAG shortly. The revised national survey is now available on the SurveyMonkey website.

Why should I participate?

This is your chance to share your businesses’ views and ideas on managing your workforce and how we can continue to make the T&L industry a great place to work.

You will be able to view the collective responses from the industry and compare your performance against the similar size businesses. This valuable information can then assist you in deciding what works well and what may need improving in your workforce management.

(Note: individual information will not be provided in the report)

What will the data be used for?

The data collected from the survey will assist your business and the industry with:

  • assessing the current state of the industry
  • identifying barriers/limitations to utilising available learning and development programs
  • assessing employee participation in government programs
  • creating tailored workplace initiatives to promote workforce capability
  • gauging any future skills and labour shortages in the industry
  • propose actions and issues that should be future explored.

When will the results be available?

The survey results are available from TMR's website.
