The call for submissions by Infrastructure Australia prompted TALC to offer the TILIS collaborative infrastructure idea as the backbone for a national industry e-collaboration framework. Infrastructure Australia has identified three types of infrastructure - physical (e.g. roads and bridges), digital (e.g. broadband and wireless) and collaborative (e.g. web 2.0 and communities of practice). Dr Daryll Hull, Managing Director of TALC, stated: "along with physical and digital infrastructure, industry needs collaborative mechanisms to work together. Roads, railways, ports and broadband are only tools to do the job - as is collaboration and cooperation between organisations and individuals. The role of government is not only to provide the physical and digital framework for nation buiding; but also to assist in the development of on-line e-collaboration that enhances business connections".
